Barcelona have held preliminary talks with the representatives of Club Brugge’s teenage sensation Jesse Bisiwu of Ghanaian descent as they look to beat Europe’s elite to his signature, according to Africafoot.

The 17-year-old winger, nicknamed the ‘contortionist’ for his elusive dribbling style, caught the eye of Barca scouts during a standout campaign at the U-17 World Cup.

The Catalan giants are understood to have met with the player’s entourage to outline a development path that would see him join the club as early as next summer.

The ‘La Masia’ pathway

Under the proposed move, Bisiwu would initially be integrated into the Barca Atletic set-up—the club’s reserve side currently managed by former defender Juliano Belletti—while training regularly with Hansi Flick’s senior first-team squad.

Bisiwu has already made waves in his homeland, becoming one of the youngest players to ever feature in the Belgian second tier for Brugge’s youth side, Club NXT.

Despite his age, he has been a mainstay in the UEFA Youth League this season, scoring twice and registering an assist in five appearances, including a notable performance against Arsenal U19s earlier this month.

Brugge fight to keep ‘rising star’

Club Brugge are reportedly reluctant to lose a player they have nurtured since he joined from OH Leuven in 2020.

The Belgian side are keen to see Bisiwu progress into their own first-team ranks, believing his market value—currently estimated around €760,000—could skyrocket once he makes his senior professional breakthrough.

However, with his contract set to expire in 2027 and the lure of the Nou Camp growing, Brugge face a significant challenge to retain one of the most exciting prospects in European football.
