African powerhouse and Tanzanian outfit Young Africans SC have backtracked on their decision to let Uganda National Senior team (the Cranes) captain Khalid Aucho leave, and tabled fresh terms, Footy-Africa has exclusively confirmed.
The talks of a new contract had initially stalled, and the experienced midfielder was set to depart. However, the club has turned around to offer him a new one-year contract. The player has assented and will jet back to Tanzania this week to put pen to paper.
Aucho’s manager, Godfrey Kayemba has exclusively revealed to Footy-Africa that Young Africans re-opened their doors for the player, and asserted he would travel back to Tanzania this week to sign the extension, which has come with improved financial terms.
“Well, it has been a roller-coaster in the past month or so, but finally, at least something positive has been realized. Everything seemed over between Khalid (Aucho) and Young Africans, but they have finally decided that he will stay for another season. The club loves him, as he has been a diligent servant, he also absolutely loves the place. The agreement on the new deal was easy to reach,” Kayemba exclusively told Footy-Africa
Aucho, whose Transfermarkt valuation is estimated at €125,000, has been at Young Africans since the 2021/22 season, helping them to four Tanzania Premier League championships and three FA Cups. He has featured in 137 matches for them across all competitions.
In the past, the 31-year-old played for Egyptian sides El-Makasa and East Bengal. He has also formerly played for Serbian team Red Star Belgrade, South Africa’s Baroka FC and Uganda Premier League side Kirinya Jinja SS.
Meanwhile, at the international stage, Aucho, whose Uganda Cranes debut came in 2013, remains one of the most capped players in the national colors. He has managed 74 competitive appearances, chipping in with two goals. He captained the team to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations slated for Morocco in December.
