Ghanaian defender Lumor Agbenyenu is in advanced talks with English Football League (EFL) Championship side Swansea City over a potential move in the forthcoming January transfer window, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.

Agbenyenu is currently a free agent, having parted ways with Austrian Bundesliga side SV Reid at the end of his contract. The 29-year-old spent one-and-a-half seasons with SV Reid but struggled for consistent playing time, prompting the club to let his deal expire.

Sources close to his representatives at Think Forward have revealed that Swansea City have expressed strong interest, with a three-year contract reportedly on the table.

“Swansea have shown genuine interest in Lumor and a three-year deal is being discussed. He brings experience across multiple European leagues, versatility in defense, and the physical presence that fits the Championship style. Both parties are eager to finalize terms quickly, especially with the January window approaching,” the source exclusively told Footy-Africa.

During his spell at SV Reid, Agbenyenu made 23 appearances across all competitions. Prior to that, he featured 11 times for Greek side Kifisia. His career has also included stints at Aris Thessaloniki, Malaga, Real Mallorca, Göztepe, Sporting CP, Portimonense, Porto U19, and 1860 Munich.

At the international level, Agbenyenu has received several call-ups to Ghana’s senior national team, The Black Stars, but is yet to earn a full cap.
