Agent Nedim Halilagic, who represents Baboucarr Faal, talked exclusively to Footy-Africa after his client had completed a major move to Czech giants Viktoria Plzen, joining the club from Ukrainian side Karpaty Lviv in a deal worth €3 million plus a further €10 million in bonuses.
Halilagic revealed that Viktoria Plzen’s plans for the player played a decisive role in the move.
“He is brought in to play in the first team as a starter because no one pays €3 million for a player and not play him. They are looking for us to provide him with that opportunity,” Halilagic exclusively told Footy-Africa.
The agent also disclosed that there were several alternative destinations under consideration before the player opted for the Czech side.
“We have had offers from Spain and Switzerland but Viktoria Plzen was much more convincing and we have moved to the Czech Republic instead,” he added.
The Gambian striker has signed a four-year contract that will keep him at Viktoria Plzen until 2030, marking another significant step in his rapidly rising career.
Faal arrives in the Czech Republic after an impressive spell with Karpaty Lviv, where he established himself as one of the most exciting attacking talents in the Ukrainian Premier League. Having joined Karpaty from city rivals Rukh Lviv in February 2026 for a reported €500,000, the forward quickly repaid the club’s faith with a string of outstanding performances.
During the 2025/26 campaign, Faal scored nine goals and provided five assists in 26 league appearances, attracting interest from clubs across Europe.
The transfer represents a remarkable rise for Faal, whose value has increased significantly in just a few months following his move to Karpaty. Now, he will be expected to play a key role for Viktoria Plzen as the club looks to compete domestically and in European competitions.
With a long-term contract secured and the confidence of his new club clearly demonstrated by the size of the investment, Faal will be hoping to continue his development and establish himself as one of the leading Gambian footballers in Europe.
