Super Eagles striker Akor Adams in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa has dismissed reports linking him with a summer exit from Spanish side Sevilla. According to numerous media outlets, Marseille are considering a move for 26-year-old this summer.
“I have not heard anything about that, but this is the transfer window and there will always be many rumours,” he told Footy-Africa. “It is not something that is important to me at the moment. I have a contract with Sevilla, and we have just come through a difficult season, so now is not really the time to focus on such things.”
“It all depends on what happens, but I am happy at Sevilla. Rumours are part of football, but it is not something I am thinking about right now.”
Recent reports in Spain suggested that the 26-year-old could be among the players leaving the Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán during the current transfer window. Adams is currently away with the Nigerian national team as they prepare for next week’s international friendly against Portugal.
Akor Adams dismisses Premier League rumours, focused on Sevilla survival
The speculation comes despite a difficult second half of last season for the Nigerian forward. Following his January move from French club Montpellier, Adams struggled to make an immediate impact at Sevilla, failing to register a goal or assist during his first six months at the club.
Despite that, the striker continues to attract interest across Europe, with French giants Marseille reportedly monitoring his situation. The Ligue 1 side are keen to strengthen their attacking options as they look to challenge for major honours next season, and Adams is believed to be among their priority targets.
Adams is currently valued at €15 million by Transfermarkt and remains under contract with Sevilla until June 2029, placing the Spanish club in a strong negotiating position should any formal offers arrive.
However, the player insists he is unaware of any plans for him to leave Sevilla and remains fully focused on his international duties with Nigeria.
