Turkish giants Beşiktaş have opened formal negotiations to sign highly rated Nigerian attacker Donald Godwin, Footy-Africa understands.
The 15-time Süper Lig champions have made their move following a successful trial at BJK Nevzat Demir facilities that saw Godwin, alongside teammates Moses Kehinde and Oluwatobi Ewarawon, spend time on trial in Istanbul recently.
While all three players have since returned to their parent club, Atlantic Business FC, it is Godwin who has emerged as the primary target for the Black Eagles.
Creative catalyst
Godwin’s stock has risen sharply this season due to a prolific run of form in Nigeria’s Creative Championship League.
The young forward has found the back of the net 13 times, a return that reportedly caught the eye of Beşiktaş scouts looking to bolster their youth ranks with elite international talent.

Pathway to the pros
Sources close to the negotiations suggest that talks are progressing steadily and could be finalized within days. If the deal is struck, Godwin is expected to initially join the Beşiktaş U-19 setup, providing him with a structured pathway into European professional football.
The move highlights a growing trend of Turkish clubs scouring the Nigerian grassroots circuit for grassroots talents.
Should the transfer be completed, Godwin will join a prestigious list of Nigerians who have plied their trade at the Vodafone Park, as Beşiktaş looks to build a sustainable bridge between African youth academies and the Süper Lig.
