Promising young defender Buba Sanneh is set to commit his future to Nottingham Forest after reaching an agreement with the club over a new two-year contract extension, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.
Former professional footballer and current agent Cherno Samba, who represents Sanneh, confirmed that discussions with the club have resulted in an agreement for the player’s continued stay at the City Ground.
The contract extension marks another important milestone in the youngster’s development as he looks to continue progressing through Nottingham Forest’s ranks and push closer to first-team football.
Samba also revealed that Sanneh remains eligible to represent The Gambia at international level in the future. While England currently appears the most likely destination for the highly-rated defender, the possibility of featuring for the Gambia remains open.
The English-born Gambian fullback has been one of the standout performers within Forest’s academy system and is regarded as a player with significant potential. The new deal reflects the club’s confidence in his development and long-term prospects.
Sanneh has captained Nottingham Forest’s Under-18 side over the past two seasons, demonstrating leadership qualities alongside his performances on the pitch. His progress has also seen him make the transition to the club’s Under-21 setup this season, where he has continued to impress.
During the 2025/26 campaign, the young defender featured in a combined 31 matches for the Under-18 and Under-21 teams. In those appearances, he contributed one goal and two assists while continuing to establish himself as one of the academy’s promising talents.
As he prepares to sign his new deal, Sanneh will be aiming to build on his impressive academy performances and take the next step in what is shaping up to be a promising career.
