As the transfer window draws to a close, Nigerian striker David Ankeye could leave Genoa, as the new option has emerged, Africafoot reports.
According to Africafoot’s information, Apoel Nicosia has contacted the Italian side in order to recruit the 23-year-old. It is believed that the Cypriot club has even made an offer of around β¬1.5 million. Negotiations are continuing, and an agreement could soon be reached.
Recently, Serie B side Frosinone Calcio have also tried to attract Ankeye, but so far without success.
On loan last season to FC Rapid Bucharest, Ankeye played only eight matches before returning to Genoa, where he subsequently appeared in five matches.
His permanent departure from Genoa now seems more than likely. The striker, who is tied to the Italian club until June 2027, is currently valued at β¬850,000 on Transfermarkt.
Port Harcourt native is yet to debut for Nigerian international team.
