The Spanish La Liga is Spain’s top tier of professional football and over the years, it has been graced by the presence of many outstanding African players. These stars have played key roles in their teams’ successes, delivering match-winning performances and setting standards for those who followed.

While the likes of Ademola Lookman and Inaki Williams are currently making headlines with their exploits, several African players left their mark on the league long before them, winning major honours with their clubs.

This list takes a look at five African players who have won the most La Liga titles in history.

Eto’o won the first of his three titles during his first season at the Catalan giants in the 2004-05 season and followed it up with a second consecutive title in 2005-06, when he also won the Pichichi trophy for the player with the most goals.

The former Cameroon captain won his third title in 2008-09 season as part of a historic treble success at the club.
