Super Eagles forward Akor Adams in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa has dedicated his goal in the 4-0 rout of Mozambique in Monday’s Round of 16 clash to his mother.
The Sevilla forward scored his maiden goal at the African Cup of Nations tournament on his third appearance to seal the comfortable win for Nigeria as they dumped the Mambas out of the tournament.
“First, glory to God for the privilege to have my first AFCON goal like all of you have been waiting for. The goal is dedicated to my mum, she’s supposed to be here but she’s at the hospital right now. She was admitted this morning, but she’s much better right now”, Adams exclusively told Footy-Africa after the match.
‘I do not take it for granted’ – Akor Adams on Super Eagles AFCON invitation
Nigeria eased to their biggest win so far in Morocco, thrashing Mozambique 4-0 on Monday night to advance to the last eight of the 2025 African Cup of Nations tournament.
Ademola Lookman opened the floodgates, before Victor Osimhen struck twice in both halves to put the Super Eagles 3-0 up. Adams added a late fourth to cap a superb display, after also providing the assists for the team’s first two goals.
The 25-year-old hailed the impact of his strike partners and was more impressed that the team kept their first clean sheet of the tournament.
“I’m happy for the team, Victor had a fantastic game and Lookman also had a fantastic game, we came out with the victory and we are happy. It’s very important because people have been talking about all kind of things that we cannot keep from conceding goals, but today again we proved that we can defend good. It doesn’t matter who you’re playing against, we can defend good and can be very detailed in our communication. We came out with the clean sheet”, Adams continued.

I feel at home in that place and I’m grateful for the club, for the president and everybody who works in the club. Muchisimas gracias”, Adams concluded with warm regards for his club.
