Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia have identified KCCA FC playmaker Bright Anukani as a key transfer target ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, with discussions already underway over a possible move, Footy-Africa understands.

Sources close to the developments indicate that the Nairobi-based giants are keen on bolstering their midfield options and are expected to submit an official bid for the Uganda Cranes midfielder in the coming weeks.

KCCA are understood to be willing to listen to offers for the talented midfielder, provided the proposal meets the club’s valuation.

Anukani rejoined the Lugogo outfit in 2024, signing a three-year contract after previous spells elsewhere. With only one year left on his current deal, the coming transfer window could present KCCA with a decision regarding his future.

Despite struggling with injuries during the 2025/26 season, the 25-year-old remains highly regarded across the region. His technical quality, vision, passing ability, and knack for creating chances have long made him one of Uganda’s most exciting attacking midfielders.

Over the years, Anukani has built an impressive domestic résumé. He was part of the Proline FC side that won both the FUFA Big League and the Stanbic Uganda Cup in the 2018/19 season before later turning out for Vipers SC and KCCA.

Gor Mahia believe the midfielder’s creativity and experience could significantly strengthen their squad as they prepare for another demanding campaign on multiple fronts.

The record Kenyan champions secured the 2025/26 league crown to book their place in next season’s CAF Champions League, a stage that could offer Anukani an opportunity to showcase his abilities against some of Africa’s elite clubs.

At the international level, the midfielder has also represented the Uganda Cranes in competitions including the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup and the African Nations Championship (CHAN), further underlining his pedigree.

A switch to Gor Mahia could provide Anukani with a fresh challenge and a platform to rediscover his best form after an injury-disrupted season. Regular football at a club competing in continental competition could also boost his hopes of securing a place in Uganda’s squad for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which the country will co-host.

Should negotiations progress successfully, the move would mark another significant chapter in the career of a player widely considered among Uganda’s most naturally gifted midfield talents.
