Swedish top-flight side IFK Göteborg are leading the race to sign highly-rated Nigerian midfielder Ifeoluwa Olowoporoku from Triple 44 Football Academy, Footy-Africa can exclusively report.
The Allsvenskan giants are in advanced negotiations to secure the teenager, who traveled to Sweden in February to visit the club’s facilities.
While Göteborg are currently the frontrunners to land his signature, they face stiff competition from several other unnamed Swedish clubs.
Olowoporoku’s impressive tactical intelligence, vision, and exceptional reading of the game have also caught the attention of Europe’s elite. Scouts from Premier League side Chelsea and La Liga’s Real Betis have both been actively tracking his progress in West Africa.
The Triple 44 conveyor belt
Triple 44 Football Academy has rapidly established a reputation as a hotbed for talent, developing a well-trodden pathway to Northern Europe.
Academy Impact: Should Olowoporoku’s move to Sweden be finalized, he will become the second high-profile graduate from the Ibadan-based academy to move to Europe this month.
He follows teammate David Olorunfemi, who recently completed a transfer to Finnish heavyweights HJK Helsinki.
