Former Ghana international Godwin Attram, speaking exclusively to Footy-Africa, expressed strong confidence in Nice defender Kojo Oppong Peprah, backing the youngster to establish himself as a key figure in the Black Stars following his first national team call-up.

Attram highlighted the defender’s talent, intelligence, and work ethic as reasons for his expected success at the highest level.

“I’ve known Kojo since his academy days, and the foundation was very solid,” Attram said in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa. “He’s a player who understands the game, listens, and applies what he’s been taught. Those are the kind of traits you need to succeed at the top level. He’s disciplined, hardworking, and I have no doubt he can become a mainstay in the Black Stars.”

Peprah, 21, earned his first call-up for Ghana’s crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers against the Central African Republic and Comoros this month. He will be hoping to make his debut in the upcoming games. The defender joined French Ligue 1 side Nice on a permanent deal reportedly valued between €2–3 million and has made seven appearances so far, contributing one assist.

Attram stressed the importance of steady progression in a young player’s career.

“It’s always crucial for a young footballer to take the right steps every two or three years. Kojo has been smart about his choices, moving to a league where he can develop and challenge himself. I’ve seen him grow both physically and mentally, and that maturity will help him in international football,” he added.

Attram also highlighted Peprah’s mentality and adaptability.

“He’s very coachable, he learns quickly, and he handles pressure well. Playing for the national team comes with expectations, but I’m confident he has the attitude to thrive. Ghana is getting a very talented player, and with the right guidance, he can be part of this team for years to come,” he concluded.

Ghana will face the Central African Republic on Wednesday in Meknes before hosting Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday. The Black Stars need at least four points from the two games to confirm qualification, although a victory in the first match could be enough depending on other results in Group I.

Attram concluded with a message of encouragement: “Kojo has all the tools, the technique, the intelligence, and the mindset. He’s ready to step up and show that he belongs at this level. I expect great things from him, and I believe Ghana fans will see a bright future in him.”
