Ghanaian midfielder Eric Taylor is set to sign a contract extension with Norwegian outfit Kongsvinger IL Toppfotball, extending his stay beyond the three years he has already spent at the club, Footy-Africa has exclusively learned.

With his current contract set to expire in December 2025, the club is moving to secure one of their key players on an improved three-year deal that would keep him at the club until at least the end of the 2027/28 season.

This development follows a series of negotiations between Kongsvinger and the player’s representatives at Aneke Player Management Group. The club is acting swiftly to ward off interest from Eliteserien side Strømsgodset, who have emerged as potential suitors.

“There are ongoing positive negotiations with Kongsvinger, as they are serious about extending his contract beyond December,” a source at Aneke Player Management Group told Footy-Africa. “Talks have been ongoing for two weeks and are now in the final stages, with all parties in agreement on the majority of terms. The club views him as a vital part of their push for the title against the likes of Lillestrøm SK, IK Start, and Odd BK.”

In the current campaign, the 24-year-old has featured in nine of Kongsvinger’s 10 matches, scoring twice and providing one assist across the First Division and the NM Cup. Last season, he played 29 games, contributing two goals and two assists. Overall, he has made 58 appearances for the club.

In the 2021/22 season, Taylor—who is currently valued at €225,000 on Transfermarkt—played for Lillestrøm SK, the club that also developed him in its youth system.

On the international stage, Taylor has yet to earn a senior cap for Ghana’s national team, the Black Stars, despite having previously received call-ups.
