Italian side Lecce has emerged as the main competitor to Anderlecht in the race to sign highly rated Torino winger Alieu Njie on loan for the upcoming season, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.
The 21-year-old, who holds both Swedish and Gambian nationality, is expected to leave Torino temporarily in search of regular first-team football after a promising debut campaign with the Serie A club. Torino is reportedly keen to send the winger out on loan to accelerate his development and provide him with more playing opportunities.
Njie joined Torino in July 2024 and gradually established himself within the first-team setup during the 2025/26 season. Despite limited opportunities, he made 15 Serie A appearances, contributing one goal and one assist while showcasing the pace, directness and attacking flair that have made him one of Scandinavia’s most exciting young prospects.
Belgian giants Anderlecht have shown strong interest in securing the winger’s services, viewing him as a player capable of adding creativity and dynamism to their attacking options. However, Lecce has now entered the picture and is reportedly positioning itself as the club’s main rival for the player’s signature.
Interest in Njie is nothing new. Over the past year, the Swedish youth international has attracted attention from a number of clubs across Europe, including Cercle Brugge, AS Monaco, Genoa and AZ Alkmaar. Clubs from both the English Premier League and Championship have also monitored his progress closely.
Torino remains in a strong negotiating position regarding the player’s future. Njie is under contract with the club until 2029, ensuring that any decision over his next move remains firmly in Torino’s hands.
According to Transfermarkt, the winger currently carries an estimated market value of €3 million. However, reports emerging in June 2026 suggested that Torino values the player significantly higher, with figures around €10 million being mentioned due to his potential and long-term contract status.
