Leicester City have endured a stunning collapse, tumbling into League One after a turbulent 2025/26 campaign that has left fans and players reeling. Among those dragged into the club’s downward spiral are Ghanaian internationals Jordan Ayew and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku.

Just a season after dropping out of the Premier League, the Foxes were unable to steady themselves in the Championship. Instead, a season riddled with inconsistency, squandered leads, and underwhelming performances saw them slide further down the English football pyramid.

Their relegation was mathematically confirmed on Tuesday night following a tense 2-2 stalemate against Hull City at the King Power Stadium. Heading into the encounter, Leicester knew survival hinged entirely on securing victory.

While they showed resilience to claw their way back in the second half, the inability to claim maximum points ultimately sealed their fate.

Attention now turns to what lies ahead, particularly for Ayew and Issahaku. Both players are expected to weigh their options carefully once the transfer window opens, as uncertainty looms over their futures at a club now facing the harsh realities of League One football.

Beyond club concerns, the duo will also be keen to finish the season on a strong note, with ambitions of securing spots in Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup firmly in mind.
