KRC Genk are close to completing a deal for Anderlecht midfielder Majeed Ashimeru when the transfer window opens in January, according to Africafoot.
The Ghana international has struggled for playing time this season and only made his first appearance of the campaign last weekend, coming on as a substitute during Anderlecht’s 0–4 defeat to Westerlo in the Jupiler Pro League. Despite that brief return, the 28-year-old is expected to leave the Brussels side in search of regular playing time.
Ashimeru attracted interest in the summer from several clubs, including Krasnodar, Olympiacos and Hamburg, but a move failed to materialise. Genk have now emerged as his likely destination, with sources indicating that a three-year deal is being prepared.

The midfielder, who is under contract with Anderlecht until 2027, has reportedly been given the go-ahead to depart after growing frustrated with his situation.
Genk are expected to pay around €1.5m for his services, while Ashimeru is set to earn approximately €600,000 per year. Transfermarkt currently values him at €700,000.
If completed, the move would give the former RB Salzburg player an opportunity to reignite his career in Belgium’s top flight.
