Man City vs Salford match preview

Manchester City are massive favourites heading into this encounter and were big winners the last time both teams faced off at the third round in the last campaign. The Premier League club thrashed Exeter City 10-1 in the previous round and should easily see off another lower-league opposition this time around to advance to the next round of the competition.

The Cityzens have also won 16 consecutive matches at home in the FA Cup history from 2015, matching Liverpool’s record set between 1939 and 1955, while they have scored 75 goals during this run.

Salford, meanwhile, head into the clash in fine form and on the back of a 3-2 win over Swindon Town in the third round. They previously eliminated Lincoln City on penalties in the first round after a 1-1 draw and thrashed Leyton Orient 4-0 in the second round clash. Salford also faced Manchester City in last season’s tournament although that was at the third round.

Manchester City recorded an emphatic 8-0 win over Salford when both sides met in the third round last season, on their way to reaching the final where they eventually lost to Crystal Palace.

Recent Form: Manchester City

Manchester City are on a solid run of form and have won four of their last five matches, including a dramatic 2-1 comeback win over Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Cityzens have won all of their last 16 home matches in the FA Cup, scoring 75 times which is an average of 4.7 goals per game.

Recent Form: Salford

Salford have lost two of their last three matches, but were previously without defeat in 10 matches across all competitions.

The Ammies have scored eight times in three matches in the FA Cup this season and will be eyeing a shock performance at the Etihad next Saturday.

Player to Watch: Antoine Semenyo (Manchester City)

Antoine Semenyo enjoyed a superb debut after his move to Manchester City last month, providing a goal and an assist in the 10-1 win over Exeter in the previous round.

The Ghanaian winger will be one to watch in this fourth round clash, as he is expected to trouble the Salford defence with his pace and shooting ability.
