After opening weekend defeats for both sides, Olympique Marseille and Paris FC face off in an exciting matchup on Match day two in the 2025/26 French Ligue One season.

Roberto de Zerbiโs side failed to win their Ligue One opener for the first time in the last six seasons, after suffering a 1-0 defeat at Rennes, despite having a man advantage for over 60 minutes. Marseille had hoped to close the gap between them and champions PSG this season, but now face a tough task of doing so with the disappointing match day one result.
They finished second in the 2024/25 season, sealing a return to the UEFA Champions League since the 2022/23 campaign. Les Phoceens must defeat the newly-promoted Paris FC, with difficult fixtures against Lyon, PSG and Strasbourg in coming weeks.

Paris FC, meanwhile, set a new record for the longest time between two Ligue One matches with the 1-0 defeat to Angers on Match day one being their first appearance in 46 years. They gained promotion in May after a 1-1 draw against Martigues and ended the 2024/25 French Ligue 2 season in second place, finishing two points behind FC Lorient.
Les Blues strengthened the squad in the summer with key additions including experienced Nigerian winger Moses Simon from Nantes and Otavio from Porto.

Recent Form: Olympique Marseille
Prior to the narrow defeat to Rennes in their league opener, Marseille were on a 11-game unbeaten run in all competitions. In six preseason friendly matches, they were victorious on three occasions while three other matches ended in draws.
Les Phoceens have won eight of their last nine home matches in the league, although they will need to improve their defensive display having conceded in their last 11 Ligue One games.
Recent Form: Paris FC
Paris FC have also been very impressive in their recent outings, with only two defeats in their last 14 matches in all competitions.
Despite a solid defense in the second division last season, they have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last five outings and must tighten their defense if they are to avoid an immediate return to Ligue 2 at the end of the season.

The Super Eagles forward Moses Simon offers a threat with his dribbling ability and pace. His ability to provide quality crosses into the box for the striker and also to help out defensively will be crucial for success against Marseille.
