PAOK are closely monitoring Ghana midfielder Kwasi Sibo as he prepares to leave Real Oviedo at the end of the month, Footy-Africa has learnt.

The 28-year-old is expected to become a free agent when his contract expires on June 30 after failing to reach an agreement with Oviedo over a new deal.

Sources have exclusively told Footy-Africa that the Greek giants are keeping a close eye on the Black Stars midfielder, although no official offer has been made at this stage. PAOK’s participation in European competition next season could be a key factor in any potential move.

Sibo is currently focused on Ghana’s FIFA World Cup campaign and has featured in both Group L matches so far. The midfielder has impressed in the tournament, including a solid display in the Black Stars’ goalless draw against England.

The Ghana international rejected a one-year contract extension from Real Oviedo after his representatives pushed for a more lucrative long-term agreement, leading to a contract standoff that now appears set to end with his departure.

There is also interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia, meaning Sibo is expected to have several options once the World Cup concludes.

Sibo joined Oviedo from SD Amorebieta in 2024 following the Basque club’s relegation to the Primera Federación. He quickly established himself as a key figure at the club and played an important role in their rise, while his performances also earned him a maiden call-up to the Ghana national team.

With his contract entering its final days, Sibo is set to be one of the notable Ghanaian free agents on the market this summer.
