Teenage Nigerian winger Paul Ekerete is on the verge of signing a deal with Czech side MFK Karvina after impressing on trials, Footy-Africa can exclusively report.
As revealed by Footy-Africa last month, the 18-year-old was invited for trials after being spotted at a scouting programme in Abuja, Nigeria. It was a big step for a young player who, until then, had few chances to show what he could do in front of European eyes.
The plan by the club was to have him train with the first team and the U19s before running the rule over the player. That meant he got to test himself against senior professionals in the same spell that he was being measured against players his own age.
Now, feelers from the club suggest they are preparing to hand him a long-term deal after he impressed the coaches and hierarchy at the club.

Babawo Mohammed, who is handling the deal alongside CSC Agency, told footy-africa.com that everything is going well and the feedback on the player has been impressive.
“Paul (Ekerete) is going really well in training with MFK Karvina, and very soon, he will be given a deal based on the reports we got. The coaches are happy with him and believe he can be developed further to become better than he is now.”
“They wanted him on a month’s trial, and after just two weeks, the feedback is positive, and we are waiting on them so we can discuss further. As you know, in football, nothing is done until it is done, but as of now, I can confirm to you that it is a green light with the boy after impressing them. We wait and see how it finalises, but I am happy with what I have been told so far,” he added.
