As first reported by Footy-Africa, Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika is on the verge of fulfilling his long-awaited dream of playing in the Bundesliga after agreeing a move to German side Eintracht Frankfurt.
The 25-year-old has reached an agreement with Frankfurt over a four-year contract, while the Bundesliga club have also struck a deal with Belgian champions Club Brugge for a transfer worth around €10 million, with additional performance-related add-ons, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.
The move will see Onyedika become the latest Nigerian to grace Germany’s top flight after three impressive seasons in Belgium.
A product of Nigeria’s renowned FC Ebedei academy, Onyedika joined Club Brugge from Danish side FC Midtjylland in the summer of 2022. Since then, he has established himself as one of the club’s most consistent performers while also becoming a key figure in the Super Eagles midfield.

The midfielder was absent from Brugge’s Belgian Super Cup defeat to Union Saint-Gilloise on Friday as preparations for his move to Germany entered the final stages.
A source at FC Ebedei confirmed to Footy-Africa.com that the transfer is now all but complete.
“The deal has been agreed between the player and Eintracht Frankfurt, and Club Brugge have also accepted the offer for Raphael,” the source said.
“Frankfurt first wanted to sign him last year, but the clubs could not reach an agreement. They came back again during the winter transfer window, but that move also failed to materialise. There were several clubs interested in him, especially from Germany, but he decided that Frankfurt was the best destination for him.”
“He is excited about this new chapter in his career and is also looking forward to playing in the Bundesliga alongside his good friend Victor Boniface.”
Frankfurt will be hoping Onyedika’s arrival strengthens their midfield as they prepare for another demanding campaign.
