Andre Ayew is considering offers from Saudi Arabia and Qatar as the Ghana captain weighs up the next step in his career following his departure from Dutch side NAC Breda, sources close to the player have told Footy-Africa.
The 36-year-old is currently a free agent after NAC Breda opted not to renew his short-term contract following the club’s relegation from the Eredivisie. While Ayew has yet to make a final decision on his future, a return to the Gulf appears to be his most likely destination.
Sources indicate that clubs in both the Saudi Pro League and the Qatar Stars League have expressed interest in signing the experienced forward. Ayew is understood to be leaning towards a move back to the region, where he previously enjoyed a successful spell with Al Sadd between 2021 and 2023, winning domestic honours and producing several influential performances.
At this stage, there are no concrete offers from clubs in Europe’s top leagues. According to sources, teams in the Gulf are currently best positioned to meet the financial demands of the former Ghana captain, whose experience and leadership continue to make him an attractive option despite his age.

Ayew is currently in Ghana maintaining his fitness while training with Nania FC, the club owned by his father, Ghana football legend Abedi Pele. The veteran attacker is taking his time over his next move and is under no immediate pressure to sign for a new club. Sources say he could even wait until after the new season begins before committing to a contract if the right opportunity does not emerge.
Since leaving Al Sadd in 2023, Ayew has remained in European football, featuring for English club Nottingham Forest, French side Le Havre and most recently NAC Breda. However, sources believe another move within Europe’s top divisions is becoming increasingly unlikely given the physical demands of elite football and the limited number of clubs willing to match his salary expectations.
