Antoine Semenyo says he’s ready to build on last season’s success with Bournemouth as the club continues its pre-season tour in the United States.

The Ghanaian forward featured in the Cherries’ 3-0 win over Everton at the MetLife Stadium on Saturday night as part of the Premier League Summer Series. Following a standout 2024/25 campaign, where he scored 13 goals to help Bournemouth finish ninth, Semenyo recently signed a new deal keeping him at the club until 2030.

Speaking to reporters, including Footy-Africa, after the match, the 25-year-old expressed his delight at continuing with Andoni Iraola’s side despite strong interest from Manchester United and Tottenham.

“I feel good [about signing a new contract],” he said. “I just want to do what I did last season. I’m looking forward to the upcoming season — I’m happy.”

Semenyo, however, was tight-lipped on his personal targets.

“I usually write my goals down in a book, but I’ll wait till the end of the season before I say what they are. I’ll keep it close to my chest,” he added.

Reflecting on his own development, he said, “Yeah, I think I can do more. I’ve been watching clips from last season, picking out things to improve. We’ve been practising all summer — hopefully, I can show it on the pitch.”

He also welcomed the club’s new signings, including Serbian goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic from Chelsea.

“The new players are really nice guys. Off the pitch, we get on really well, and that helps us build a connection on the pitch,” Semenyo said.

When asked about the team’s tactical preparations, he explained:

“The coaching staff have kept things consistent. We like to press; we’re a high-pressing team, and that won us a lot of games last season. We’re sticking to that, and for the new players, it’s just about introducing them to our style and showing them how we work.”

With confidence high and a new deal secured, Semenyo is focused on helping Bournemouth push further in the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.
