Sunderland vs Arsenal Match Preview

Sunderland’s brilliant start to the new campaign continued on Monday night, after they dominated Everton in a 1-1 stalemate. The newly-promoted side have found themselves in the top four after just 10 matches, following five wins, three draws and only two defeats so far.

The Black Cats are also one of the few remaining sides without a home defeat in the league this season, but will face a huge task of continuing the feat against one of the in-form teams in Europe.

Arsenal, on the other hand, have won none consecutive matches and have not conceded a goal in the last seven, including in their last four league matches. They have only lost once in the league this season, a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool in August.

The Gunners also have the second-best attack in the league (18 goals scored) and the best defense in the league, having conceded only three goals in 10 matches. Mikel Arteta’s men have won both of their matches against newly-promoted sides this season, recording 5-0 and 2-0 victories over Leeds United and Burnley respectively.

Recent Form: Arsenal

Arsenal are one of the most in-form teams in Europe at the moment. They are without a defeat in their last 12 matches and have won 13 of their 15 matches in all competitions this season.

The Gunners have also won four of their five away matches and have not conceded a goal in their last seven games in all competitions.

Player to Watch: Habib Diarra

Senegalese midfielder Habib Diarra has impressed since joining the club in the summer and played all of their first four league matches before suffering a groin injury.

He could be back in contention for a return against the Gunners and his presence will be vital to provide stability in the midfield.
