Super Eagles defender Abdullahi Bewene could be set for a move this summer, with Footy-Africa able to exclusively reveal that the versatile youngster is attracting serious interest from clubs in France and Belgium.
Speaking exclusively to Footy-Africa, the player’s manager, Babawo Mohammed, confirmed there has been growing interest in the defender since his Super Eagles debut.
“Abdullahi has attracted a lot of interest from clubs in France and Belgium since making his Nigeria debut,” Mohammed said. “If you watched the game, you would have seen how well he performed. It was not a surprise to us because we know his quality, but that performance has certainly prompted several clubs to make enquiries about him.”

“I can confirm that there have been discussions, but we want to ensure he joins the right club for his continued development because he is still a young player with plenty of room to grow. The Czech league has already started, but I am sure Baník Ostrava will be open to listening to suitable offers for him.”
The 21-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough campaign last season, earning his first senior call-up to the Nigerian national team ahead of the June international window.
Bewene was included in Nigeria’s squad for the international friendlies against Poland and Portugal.
It was his composed display against Poland, where he started and impressed, that significantly boosted his profile and caught the attention of scouts across Europe.
The Baník Ostrava defender, who is also capable of playing on the right wing, has since emerged as a transfer target for several clubs looking to strengthen their squads before the transfer window closes.
Although Mohammed declined to reveal the identities of the interested clubs, sources in Belgium have informed Footy-Africa that Club Brugge and KAA Gent are among the teams monitoring the Nigerian international. According to Transfermarkt, Bewene is currently valued at €850,000.
