On the final day of the transfer window, SV Werder Bremen officials secured another signing by recruiting Nigerian striker Victor Boniface on a loan from Bayer Leverkusen.

24-year-old forward joins the Green-Whites from league rivals for a year.

Peter Niemeyer, head of professional football at Werder, announced the deal on Monday evening.

“We are pleased that we were able to complete the loan and secure Victor. He has shown outstanding performances in the Bundesliga and demonstrated his qualities. We are convinced that he can build on that with us,” Peter Niemeyer explained.

Boniface named the reason for the AC Milan move collapse

Head coach Horst Steffen also sees the Boniface as a significant asset for the 2025/26.

“Victor is physically extremely strong, has a very good finish, and has good pace. He excelled as a goalscorer and assist provider in Bayer’s championship-winning season. I am sure he can become a very important factor for our group this season,” he added.

Boniface himself is really looking for the move to the Weserstadion.

“The discussions with the management convinced me to make the move to Werder. I want to contribute with my performances to help us achieve our shared goals this season. I’m looking forward to my new team and my time at Werder,” he stressed.

Boniface joins from Bayer Leverkusen with a recommendation of 61 competitive matches, in which he registered 32 goals. He previously scored 17 goals in 51 games for Union Saint-Gilloise. Before joining the Belgian club, he played for Bodø Glimt in Norway.
