English Premier League side West Ham United are set to revive their interest in Nigerian international Raphael Onyedika in the January transfer window, Footy-Africa has exclusively learned.
The 24-year-old defensive midfielder has long been on the Hammers’ radar, with initial contacts made earlier in the summer. Talks, however, stalled after Belgian giants Club Brugge slapped a hefty €40 million price tag on him.
Onyedika also attracted attention from AC Milan and Turkish heavyweights Fenerbahce, the latter pulling out after failing to meet Brugge’s valuation. But Footy-Africa understands that West Ham are determined to reignite their chase as they look to strengthen their midfield options midway through the season.

An exclusive source close to the player’s representatives, CAA Steller, revealed to Footy-Africa that while Onyedika remains happy and focused at Club Brugge, he will not block a potential move if the clubs reach an agreement.
“He (Onyedika) is still focused on Club Brugge like the case was in the summer, but if the right deal comes through, it’s up to the clubs to make things happen. West Ham are determined to return, as they’re convinced Club Brugge will entertain their €25 million offer,” the source explained exclusively to Footy-Africa.
Onyedika, whose contract with Brugge runs until the summer of 2027, joined the Belgian outfit from Danish side Midtjylland FC in 2022. Since then, he has amassed 153 appearances, contributing six goals and five assists. Last season alone, he featured 52 times across the league, Champions League and Belgian Cup. He has already made 11 appearances this campaign.
The Super Eagles midfielder, who debuted for Nigeria in 2022, has already earned 17 competitive caps and scored once for the senior national team.
