Super Eagles midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi completed a permanent transfer to join French giants Olympque Marseille from Belgian club Zulte Waregem during the winter transfer window.
The young midfielder began his senior professional career at Bulgarian side Botev Plovdiv where he spent three years, before completing a move to Belgium in January 2024. The 22-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough career at Zulte Waregem during his two-year stay and was very influential as they gained promotion to the Belgian top-flight. He also received a call-up to the Nigerian national team for the 2025 African Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco, where he won bronze medal.
Marseille will pay a a total transfer fee of €6 million for the youngster, who has joined the club on a four-year contract.
The Nigerian midfielder became the fourth player to join the French club during the course of the transfer window, following the earlier arrivals of Quinten Timber, Ethan Nwaneri and Himad Abdelli. He will provide competition in the midfield for the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Geoffrey Kondogbia, as the team compete to win a first league title since the 2009-10 season.
Transfer fee and contract details
Olympique Marseille agreed a total transfer fee in the region of €6 million to complete the signing of Nnadi from Zulte Waregem, making him the fourth-most expensive departure in the history of the Belgian club.
The 22-year-old signed a four-year deal at the Stade Velodrome and will wear the number six jersey, as he hopes to make impact upon his arrival at the club.
Marseille beat stiff competition from English Premier League side West Ham United, who had been monitoring the progress of the midfielder for a long time.

Nnadi earned around €10,000 per year during his time at Zulte Waregem and will earn a significant pay rise after his transfer to Marseille during the winter transfer window.
The French club have made a solid investment in the Super Eagles midfielder, who has massive potential to develop even further.
From Belgium to France
Nnadi rose to prominence after an impressive spell with Zulte Waregem, helping the club secure promotion to the top-flight of the Belgian league.
Now set for a new path in his career, he becomes the fifth Nigerian player to represent Olympique Marseille after Victor Agali, Joseph Yobo, Taye Taiwo and Wilson Oruma and will be hoping to continue his impressive development at the club.
