The Super Eagles will defend their Unity Cup crown when the 2026 edition takes place in London from May 26 to 30, with India, Jamaica, and Zimbabwe also participating.
Nigeria lifted the 2025 title after beating Ghana and Jamaica, and they will be aiming for another strong showing under Eric Chelle following their impressive campaign at the 2025 African Cup of Nations, where they secured a bronze medal finish.
Although Nigeria will not be at the World Cup after missing out on qualification, the Unity Cup provides a great chance to test new players as preparations begin for the 2027 AFCON qualifiers later this year.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is already working behind the scenes to secure fresh talents, who are willing to commit their international futures to the Super Eagles. While some players have already pledged allegiance, some others could still be convinced and called up to the squad ahead of next month’s tournament.
Here are five players who could make their debut when the tournament kicks off next month:
Arthur Okonkwo
Wrexham goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo is now eligible to represent Nigeria after FIFA approved his switch of international allegiance from England earlier this month.
The former Arsenal shot-stopper could receive his first call-up for the Unity Cup and even go on to make his debut.
The 24-year-old has shown composure and consistency at club level and with concerns surrounding Nigeria’s goalkeeping department, given the lack of regular football for first-choice Stanley Nwabali, Okonkwo could emerge as a long-term solution, especially following the retirement of Vincent Enyeama.

Femi Azeez
Millwall forward Femi Azeez is another player who could be in line for a Super Eagles call-up, having reportedly committed his international future to Nigeria.
The 24-year-old was born in England to Spanish and Nigerian parents and was eligible to represent all three nations.
However, he has not featured for any at youth level, making his pathway to the Super Eagles straightforward.
William Osula
Newcastle United forward William Osula is also on Nigeria’s radar and could be handed a debut opportunity at the Unity Cup. The Nigerian Football Federation has already made contact, but the player is still considering his options.
The 22-year-old is eligible to play for England, Denmark, Nigeria and France. He has represented Denmark at youth level and has received two senior call-ups, although he is yet to make his debut.
Should he choose Nigeria, FIFA approval for a switch would be required and could be completed in time for the tournament next month.

Michael Kayode
Brentford defender Michael Kayode has emerged as one of the Premier League’s standout right-backs, attracting interest from several top European clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.
Kayode remains eligible for Nigeria, although he has previously hinted at representing Italy and has already featured for them at various youth levels.
Kingsley Ehizibue
Udinese defender Kingsley Ehizibue is the only player on this list with a previous involvement with the Super Eagles. He received a call-up from former head coach Gernot Rohr in 2020 but did not make an appearance.
Six years after that call-up, the experienced right-back could be in contention once again after impressing at the Italian club.
