Nigeria will take on Jamaica in the final of the 2026 Unity Cup tournament, marking the second straight year both nations will meet at that stage of the competition.
The Super Eagles came out on top when both sides met in last year’s final, but Jamaica will be desperate for revenge and eager to finally end their wait for a first Unity Cup title. Eric Chelle’s side booked their place in the final with a comfortable 2-0 win over Zimbabwe in the semifinal, producing a dominant display despite missing several of their key players.
Jamaica also secured a 2-0 victory over India in the second semifinal, setting up what promises to be an exciting final clash at The Valley on Saturday.
In this article, Footy-Africa takes a look at four Nigerian players who could prove decisive in the final.
Tochukwu Nnadi
Olympique Marseille midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi is expected to start once again as he prepares for what could be his third appearance for the Super Eagles. The 22-year-old will be hoping to deliver another commanding display in midfield after impressing against Zimbabwe.
Nnadi controlled the midfield in the semifinal, consistently winning possession and dictating the tempo of play.
Despite having played just 13 minutes for Nigeria before the tournament, he looked completely at ease on the big stage and his shooting ability from distance could prove decisive against Jamaica.
Five players who could make their Super Eagles debut at the 2026 Unity Cup
Femi Azeez
There had been huge anticipation among Nigerian fans ahead of Femi Azeez’s debut after his impressive performances for Millwall during the recently concluded season, where he earned a place in the EFL Championship Team of the Season.
The winger lived up to expectations with a brilliant brace that inspired Nigeria to victory over Zimbabwe. Azeez looked comfortable throughout the match, using his pace and movement to trouble the Warriors’ defence.
The 24-year-old also linked up play effectively and would be one main player to watch against Jamaica.

Chibuike Nwaiwu
Trabzonspor centre-back Chibuike Nwaiwu is another player who could play a key role for Nigeria in the final.
The 22-year-old defender is physically strong, dominant in the air, and composed when in possession.
His battle with Jamaica forward Kaheim Dixon could be one of the standout duels in the final. If Nwaiwu can keep the dangerous attacker quiet, Nigeria will have a strong chance of retaining the trophy.

Arthur Okonkwo
Wrexham goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo made his Super Eagles debut against Zimbabwe, although he was rarely tested throughout the game.
However, he looked very composed when he was called upon and dealt with situations comfortably.
The shot-stopper also impressed with his distribution, regularly finding teammates with accurate long passes. Against Jamaica, Okonkwo is likely to face a tougher test and could strengthen his claim to become Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper ahead of Stanley Nwabali, Maduka Okoye, and Francis Uzoho with a good performance.
