Atalanta hold firm as Galatasaray pursuit of Ademola Lookman stalls

Atalanta remain resolute in their stance over Ademola Lookman, effectively dampening momentum behind a possible move to Galatasaray this winter.

Despite the Turkish club reportedly offering Lookman a salary in the region of €5-6 million per season and identifying him as a primary target, Bergamo insist the only acceptable move would meet their valuation — around €50-55 million, according to journalist Ekrem Konur.

Last summer, offers from Inter Milan and others failed to sway Atalanta — a €45 million bid was rejected, as was a lower €40 million opening proposal, partly due to a 15 % sell-on arrangement owed to his former club RB Leipzig. Lookman even submitted a formal transfer request and publicly accused Atalanta of breaking promises after negotiations collapsed.

Although Lookman has since been reinstated to Atalanta’s squad and was named in their Champions League roster, reports suggest he remains marginalised — a clear sign that the club sees him as surplus to long-term plans, yet unwilling to let him go for less than their asking price. Meanwhile, Galatasaray appear unwilling to meet the valuation, and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently dismissed rumours of any concrete agreement between the parties.

In short, the Lookman saga remains unresolved: Atalanta are not budging on price, Galatasaray are yet to meet those demands, and unless a club emerges willing to satisfy Bergamo’s valuation, Lookman is likely to remain in Italy — possibly until at least summer 2026.
