Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu is set to arrive in Turkey on Monday for his medical tests and to complete a permanent move from English Championship side Southampton, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.

Onuachu is flying to Turkey today following an agreement between Southampton and Trabzonspor. The forward is expected to sign a three-year contract worth €8 million with the Turkish club, keeping him at the club until at least the summer of 2028.

The 31-year-old has been Trabzonspor’s top transfer target this window, and the deal is finally nearing completion, with the signing expected later today, according to an exclusive source at his agency, CMG Sports.

“Paul (Onuachu) is getting on the flight and will be in Turkey today for his medical and contract signing. Finally, the saga is getting sorted. He will be their (Trabzonspor’s) player as of today—unless he fails the medical tests, which is highly unlikely,” the source told Footy-Africa.

This move marks a return to the club where he previously spent a successful loan spell from Southampton. During the 2023/24 season, he scored 17 goals and provided four assists in just 25 appearances for Trabzonspor. In contrast, he managed just four goals and one assist in 28 matches for Southampton.

Onuachu joined Southampton in 2023 from Belgian side Genk on a three-year deal. He departs the English club having made 40 appearances and scored four goals.

At Genk, the Nigerian forward—currently valued at €6 million on Transfermarkt—made 135 appearances, netted 85 goals, and recorded eight assists. Earlier in his career, he also featured for Danish clubs Midtjylland and Vejle BK.
