Career
Born in Madrid on 4 November 1998 to Moroccan parents, Hakimi joined Real Madrid’s academy at the age of seven and progressed through the ranks before making his first-team debut in 2017.
Seeking regular minutes, he enjoyed a highly successful loan spell at Borussia Dortmund, where his electric speed and attacking output earned him a reputation as one of Europe’s most exciting young defenders.
A transfer to Inter Milan in 2020 brought immediate reward — Hakimi helped the club win the Serie A title in his only season there.
His performances attracted PSG’s attention, leading to a €60 million move to France in July 2021. Since then, he has grown into a pivotal figure, balancing defensive assurance with attacking flair, and forming a potent partnership with PSG’s forwards.
For Morocco, Hakimi has become a national icon. He was instrumental in their historic 2022 World Cup semi-final run — the first by an African nation — and continues to be a leader for the Atlas Lions with over 75 international caps.
