As Footy-Africa had previously announced, Abubacarr Sedi Kinteh completed a permanent move to Al Ahli SC from Norwegian side Tromsø IL, signing a five-year contract with the club.

The transfer forms part of Al Ahli’s efforts to strengthen their squad ahead of the new domestic season and upcoming continental competitions, with the Gambian defender viewed as a key addition to the club’s long-term project.

Kinteh arrives after impressing in Norway, where he established himself as one of Tromsø’s emerging defensive talents. Known for his physicality, composure on the ball and ability to operate in multiple defensive roles, the 22-year-old has earned a reputation as one of the most promising Gambian defenders playing in Europe.

Al Ahli confirmed the signing in an official statement, expressing confidence that Kinteh will play an important role in the club’s future ambitions.

The move represents a significant step in the defender’s career, with the switch to Qatar offering him the opportunity to compete for major honours and gain experience in continental football.

Footy-Africa previously reported that the transfer from Norwegian side Tromsø IL was valued at approximately €7 million and would see the 19-year-old become the most expensive player ever sold by the Norwegian club.

For Al Ahli, the signing adds youth and versatility to their defensive options, while for Kinteh it marks the beginning of a new chapter as he looks to continue his rise on a bigger stage after making his name with Tromsø.
