Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have joined the growing list of clubs interested in signing Nigerian teenager Zadok Yohanna from Swedish side AIK, sources have told Footy-Africa.
The two Premier League clubs are the latest high-profile teams to be linked with the highly rated 18-year-old winger, who has attracted attention across Europe following a series of impressive performances in Sweden’s top flight.
A source with knowledge of the situation confirmed Chelsea’s interest in the player, while Tottenham are understood to be monitoring developments closely, although they have yet to submit an official offer.
Newcastle United table €30 million offer for Zadok Yohanna amid Brighton interest
It remains unclear whether Chelsea have submitted a formal bid for Yohanna. However, the 18-year-old fits the recruitment profile the club have adopted in recent years, with the Blues focusing heavily on signing young, high-potential talent from around the world as part of their long-term squad-building strategy.
The interest from the London clubs comes after reports that Newcastle United have already opened discussions with AIK over a potential deal. Newcastle are believed to have tabled an offer worth an initial €25m (£21m), with a further €5m (£4.2m) in performance-related add-ons.
Brighton & Hove Albion are also among the clubs pursuing Yohanna and are understood to have submitted a bid in the region of €25m. However, no agreement has yet been reached with AIK, who are taking their time to assess their options as interest in the player continues to grow.
Sources indicate that Yohanna’s preferred destination is Brighton, although negotiations remain ongoing. Rival clubs are reportedly wary of being drawn into a bidding war as AIK weigh up competing proposals.
Should a transfer be completed, Yohanna’s former club, Ikhon Allah Football Academy, stands to benefit financially through a sell-on clause and FIFA’s training compensation mechanisms. The academy is expected to receive a percentage of any future transfer fee, although the final amount will depend on the value of the deal eventually agreed.

Yohanna has also been linked with several leading European clubs, including Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig and Rennes.
With multiple clubs tracking his progress and AIK under no immediate pressure to sell, the race for one of Nigeria’s most promising young talents appears set to intensify in the coming weeks.
