Crystal Palace vs Rayo Vallecano match preview

Crystal Palace head into their first-ever European final in their maiden European campaign hoping to join the list of English teams to have lifted the trophy. The Eagles have enjoyed a stunning campaign in recent seasons. They lifted their first-ever major trophy in the 2024-25 season and backed it up with another trophy earlier in the season when they won the FA Community Shield over Liverpool and have an European-winning manager in Oliver Glasner, who guided Eintracht Frankfurt to glory in the UEFA Europa League in 2022. They recorded a 5-2 aggregate win over Shakhtar Donetsk in the semifinal to book their place in the final.

Rayo Vallecano, on the other hand, are also competing in their first-ever European final and are looking to become the first Spanish winners of the competition. The Red Sashes have enjoyed a remarkable run up to the final, finishing fifth during the league phase after winning four of their six games.

The Spanish team then went on to eliminate the likes of Samsunspor, AEK Athens and Strasbourg in the semifinal to reach the final.

Senegalese forward Ismaila Sarr is set to finish as the top scorer in the competition with nine goals and will be looking to add to his tally by helping Crystal Palace to their first European title.

The 28-year-old has scored in every match since the Round of 16 second leg, and he poses a serious threat with his pace and dribbling skills.
