Fresh from returning with a bronze medal with Nigeria at the 2025 African Cup of Nations tournament, Frank Onyeka is back in the headlines as speculations continue to grow over his future at Brentford. The midfielder is attracting interest from several clubs and could leave the English Premier League side before the January transfer window closes.

The Super Eagles midfielder joined the Bees from Danish club Midtjylland in 2021 and started their first-ever win in the English Premier League, a 2-0 result over Arsenal in August 2021. However, he has struggled to cement a regular role in the side and has been used mostly as a substitute. The 28-year-old even spent the entire 2024-25 season on loan at German club Augsburg.

This season, he has played just six times in the Premier League and has not featured since the win over Liverpool in October. While his commitments at the AFCON tournament kept him out for a while, his omission from the match-day squad for Brentfordโ€™s last match against Nottingham Forest has further fueled talks of an exit, with the club open to either a loan or permanent move.

With a few days left until the end of the transfer window, the race to sign the Nigerian midfielder is intensifying and Onyeka is also keen on an exit to secure regular playing minutes Here are four possible destinations before the end of the month.

Coventry City (England)

Championship leaders Coventry City have emerged as favourites to sign Frank Onyeka from Brentford this month. The Frank Lampard-led team currently top the English second division and see the Brentford midfielder as an ideal addition to strengthen the midfield for the second half of the season.

The Sky Blues are also hoping to add enough depth to the squad as they continue their push for a return to the English Premier League.

Valencia (Spain)

Spanish La Liga outfit Valencia have also emerged as a potential destination for the Super Eagles midfield general. Los Che have struggled this season and are 14th on the Spanish league standings .

The arrival of Onyeka would shore up the midfield with his intense pressing and energy, which would help them in their push for a better finish on the standings. The 28-year-old would be open yo the move especially with the presence of compatriot Sadiq Umar, who arrived at the club on a permanent deal earlier in the month.

Sheffield United (England)

Sheffield United are another club keeping tabs on Onyeka as they look to reinforce their midfield options.

The club are actively in the market for reinforcements in the midfield and would offer Onyeka regular minutes, while he also fits their high intensity pattern.

Birmingham City (England)

Birmingham City have also expressed interest in signing Onyeka should he leave Brentford. The Blues want to strengthen their squad and believe the midfielderโ€™s experience could be important in their push for a playoffs spot at the end of the season.

The presence of Bright Osayi-Samuel would also help the midfielder settle quickly at the club if a move materializes.
