Ghanaian defender Ebenezer Annan is on the verge of completing his move to Romanian side Rapid Bucharest after all parties reached an agreement over his transfer, Footy-Africa can report.
Footy-Africa.com previously reported that Rapid had reached a verbal agreement with Saint-Étienne for the 23-year-old to join on loan. That agreement has now been concluded, with the deal including an option for the Romanian club to sign him permanently.
The remaining steps are Annan’s medical examination and Rapid’s official announcement. The Ghana international is expected to travel to Romania this week to complete the process.
Sources close to the situation have confirmed that the permanent transfer option is worth close to €1 million.
Annan’s move to Bucharest was delayed after Swedish club Malmö FF also expressed interest and explored a possible deal. However, Malmö eventually moved for another player, clearing the way for Rapid to complete their move for the left-back.
Saint-Étienne had already decided that Annan was no longer part of their plans and left him out of their pre-season squad for the trip to Glasgow.
The defender made 18 Ligue 2 appearances for Saint-Étienne last season and still has a contract with the French club until June 2028.
