Ghanaian winger Joseph Opoku will sign a four-year contract with Swansea City, with the Championship club holding an option to extend the deal by a further year based on his performances, Footy-Africa can confirm.
The 20-year-old has completed his medical after Swansea finalised all the paperwork for his transfer from Belgian side Zulte Waregem.
Swansea have agreed a deal worth €6.5 million plus add-ons and a sell-on clause, with the transfer now awaiting official confirmation.
The agreement also contains two significant performance-related clauses. Should Swansea secure promotion to the Premier League during Opoku’s time at the club and the winger earn a Black Stars call-up, the Welsh side will pay an additional €500k to Zulte Waregem.
The clauses reflect the Belgian club’s belief in Opoku’s potential and could see the overall value of the transfer rise considerably if the Ghana international continues his rapid development.

Opoku attracted interest from several clubs across Europe, including Hull City, Genoa, Trabzonspor, Krasnodar and Real Sociedad, before opting for Swansea.
The former Great Corinthians FC winger enjoyed a breakthrough 2025/26 season in Belgium, scoring 10 goals and providing 16 assists for Zulte Waregem. His performances earned him the Belgian Pro League Player of the Month award for April and a maiden senior Ghana call-up earlier this year.
Opoku is expected to join Swansea’s pre-season camp immediately after the transfer is officially announced.
