English Premier League outfit West Ham United are expected to revive their interest in Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika once the January transfer window opens.

The Nigerian midfielder attracted interest from several European clubs in the summer with the likes of Besiktas, Eintracht Frankfurt and AC Milan also interested, but was reportedly close to joining countryman Victor Osimhen at Turkish club Galatasaray, only for talks to break down due to differences in both club’s valuation of the player.

How much could Raphael Onyedika cost in January

Per Transfermarkt, Raphael Onyedika is currently worth about €20 million, ranking him as the fourth most valuable player in the Belgian league and the seventh most valuable Super Eagles footballer in Europe.

Club Brugge have however slapped a €40 million transfer fee on the 24-year-old, but could entertain offers close to that amount.

Per Capology, the Super Eagles midfielder also earns about €3,715 in wages on a weekly basis, amounting to about €193,200 per year.

The total investments in acquiring the services of the defensive midfielder could be in excess of €40 million, including his transfer fees, depending on the length of the contract he agrees to at the club.

West Ham to reignite January pursuit for Onyedika despite Club Brugge stance

How will Onyedika fit into West Ham United

Raphael Onyedika would bring fresh energy into the West Ham United midfield and blend in perfectly into Nuno Espirito Santo’s 4-2-3-1 system, occupying one of the two defensive midfield roles and offering solid protection for the backline. The Nigerian star can also operate as a lone midfielder in a 4-3-3 system, while his versatility also enables him to perform effectively in the central midfield position.

His presence will help restore stability in midfield and he has previously shown that he can rise to the big occasion, with strong performances in many high-profile matches.

At just 24, Onyedika has the potential to develop into a long-term option at the club if the deal is finalized.
