A source has confirmed to Footy-Africa that Saudi Pro League clubs Al-Qadsiah and Damac are pursuing Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, with the Phobians expected to cash in on the Black Stars star if their valuation is met.
While both clubs have expressed interest in the 33-year-old, Damac have already made a formal approach as they look to strengthen their goalkeeping department ahead of the new season.
Asare has emerged as one of Ghana’s most sought-after players following an impressive 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign, where he gave a great account of himself.
The experienced shot-stopper was among Ghana’s standout performers in the tournament, with his best display coming in the goalless draw against England. He produced a series of outstanding saves to deny Harry Kane and company, helping the Black Stars secure a valuable point and earning widespread praise from fans and pundits.
Although the goalkeeper’s current market value is estimated at around β¬100,000, Footy-Africa.com understands Hearts of Oak have placed a valuation of more than β¬500,000 on the player following his impressive World Cup performances.
The Accra-based club believe Asare’s displays on football’s biggest stage have significantly increased his value and are unwilling to sanction his departure for anything below their asking price.
Asare remains under contract after signing a new deal with Hearts of Oak in 2024, having rejected an offer from a club in Djibouti to extend his stay until 2027. The agreement also includes an option for a further one-year extension, putting the Ghanaian giants in a strong negotiating position.
Although Hearts of Oak are prepared to allow the goalkeeper to leave this transfer window, the club will only entertain offers that match their valuation.
With Damac already making their move and Al-Qadsiah continuing to monitor the situation, Benjamin Asare could become one of Ghana’s biggest outbound transfers of the summer if a deal is reached in the coming weeks.
