Footy-Africa can report that Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi is expected to begin preseason training with Besiktas despite ongoing speculation surrounding his future this summer.
Ndidi joined Besiktas last summer from Leicester City and quickly established himself as a key player for the Turkish Süper Lig giants. His impressive performances also earned him the role of vice-captain.
The Nigerian international signed for the club as part of Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s recruitment drive, which also included England forward Tammy Abraham.
However, uncertainty over Ndidi’s future has persisted following Solskjær’s departure and the sacking of his replacement Sergen Yalçın.

The 29-year-old defensive midfielder has been linked with a possible return to England, where he built a strong reputation during his time with Leicester City. Newly promoted Hull City and Manchester United are both believed to be monitoring his situation.
Several clubs in Saudi Arabia are also reportedly interested in the Nigerian international. However, Besiktas are willing to sanction his departure only if they receive a fee of around €8 million—the amount they paid to sign him.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Footy-Africa understands that Ndidi is expected to report for preseason training with Besiktas while discussions over a potential transfer continue.
The Besiktas squad has already travelled to Slovakia for its preseason training camp under new head coach Vincenzo Italiano.
Ndidi, who spent part of his summer break in Nigeria, is expected to join the squad at the training camp between Thursday and Friday after concluding his holiday.

The midfielder is also expected to meet with Italiano to discuss his role under the new manager before taking part in tomorrow’s training session, Footy-Africa understands.
The former Genk midfielder will be hoping to resolve questions surrounding his future as soon as possible and fully focus on the upcoming campaign.
Ndidi remains under contract with Besiktas until 2028.
