Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the signing of Nigerian youngster Zadok Yohanna from AIK.
The 18-year-old began his career at the Ikon Allah Academy in Nigeria and only moved abroad last year to join the Swedish club. However, an impressive start to life at the club, scoring five times and providing four assists across all competitions in 2026 put him on the radar of several of Europe’s elite clubs.
Brighton have now agreed a deal worth up to €30 million for the Nigerian youngster, becoming their first addition ahead of the upcoming season.
The Seagulls were expected to be very busy this summer after securing European qualification last season, as they needed to strengthen significantly to mount a strong challenge next season. Meanwhile, the uncertainty surrounding the future of Gambian forward Yankuba Minteh, who has been linked with an exit this summer with Liverpool lurking around.
His potential exit could free up space for Yohanna to come in at his preferred left wing and play a big role for the club in the coming campaign.
Transfer fee and contract details
Brighton have agreed a deal worth €30 million to sign Zadok Yohanna from AIK. The Seagulls will pay a fixed €28 million fee with an additional €2 million in performance related add-ons. The 18-year-old has also agreed a five-year deal at the Amex Stadium until 2031.
Brighton beat fierce competition from Newcastle United and Chelsea to land his services, with the Magpies also previously close to an agreement.
Meanwhile, Manchester City, Rennes, RB Leipzig and Real Madrid were also interested in the Nigerian youngster.

Zadok Yohanna previously earned around €60,000 annually at Swedish club AIK and will receive a massive pay rise following his move to the Premier League.
Brighton’s total investments is expected to surpass €30 million if all criteria are met, making the Nigerian youngster one of the most valuable additions in the club’s history.

Zadok Yohanna has enjoyed a remarkable rise in his career from Ikon Allah Academy in Nigeria to AIK and now to Brighton in the space of one year.
The 18-year-old now becomes the sixth Nigerian in the history of Brighton and will be hoping to continue his progress at the club.
