Ghanaian left-back David Oduro has accepted Barcelona’s decision to part ways with him and is hoping his future will be resolved as soon as possible, sources close to the player have told Footy-Africa.
The 20-year-old’s contract with Barcelona was due to expire in June 2027, but the club have decided to allow him to leave this summer.
Oduro is now focused on securing the right move, with Aston Villa currently the most advanced club in the race for his signature. Portuguese sides Maritimo and Tondela are also interested in the Ghanaian.
Should he join Aston Villa, the plan is for Oduro to continue his development at French Ligue 2 side Annecy, which is part-owned by V Sports.
Barcelona block Austrian move for Black Stars defender David Oduro
Oduro spent the past two seasons at Barcelona after joining from Accra Lions in 2024. He made 23 league appearances for Barça Atlètic last season, scoring once and providing one assist.
He also helped Barcelona win the UEFA Youth League during his first season at the club.
Barcelona are reportedly seeking to retain 50 percent of his future sale rights as part of the conditions for his departure, allowing the club to maintain an interest in his development.
Oduro, who made his senior Ghana debut earlier this year, is now waiting for the ongoing discussions to be concluded as he prepares for the next stage of his career.
