Ghanaian winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku is back in the headlines with speculations surrounding his future at Leicester City ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 22-year-old has been on the books of the Foxes since joining them on an initial loan deal in 2023. He played a very important role as they won the EFL Championship that season and was crowned the club’s young player of the season.
The move was then made permanent the following summer, although Leicester City dropped back to the Championship immediately after their promotion after a disappointing season in the top-flight.
The young attacker made 44 appearances in the English second division last season and scored nine times as well as providing eight assists. However, he was unable to help the Foxes avoid another relegation, which saw them drop into the English Football League One.
The relegation may force the Foxes to sell some of their most valuable players to avoid breaching financial rules, leading to doubts over Fatawu’s long-term future at the former Premier League champions especially given the number of interest he has attracted ahead of the transfer window.
With a potential move in the summer on the cards, here are five clubs the young Ghanaian could join.
Napoli (Italy)
Former Serie A champions Napoli are long-term admirers of Abdul Fatawu and are strong contenders to land his signature in the summer, as they hope to strengthen their attacking options as they look to reclaim their league title next season.
Antonio Conte’s side registered their interest during the January transfer window, and despite reports of a proposed move, there was nothing concrete which made the young winger remain in England.
But with growing interest ahead of the summer, they are expected to renew their pursuit as they look to beat other suitors to a deal.

Bournemouth (England)
Premier League side Bournemouth are another viable destination for the 22-year-old attacker.
The Cherries lost Antoine Semenyo to Manchester City during the January transfer window, while Dango Ouattara had moved to Brentford last summer without proper replacement.
The Cherries are also very likely to qualify for European football and will need to strengthen ahead of next season, with Fatawu identified as a strong target to bolster their attack.
RB Leipzig (Germany)
Bundesliga side RB Leipzig have also expressed their interest in signing Ghanaian winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku.
The German club are very likely to lose highly-rated teenager Yan Diomande this summer to a top club in England and have identified Fatawu as an ideal replacement for the Ivorian on the left side of their attack.
A move to Leipzig also makes sense for Fatawu’s development, given the club’s rich history of developing young talents before moving them on to bigger clubs in their career.

Aston Villa (England)
Aston Villa also represent another ideal option for Abdul Fatawu in the summer and the move makes sense for him, given he already has experience playing in the Premier League and would require little time to adapt.
The 22-year-old could even get regular playing time at the club as they will pursue their interest if England international Morgan Rogers moves away from the club, which has led to their interest in Fatawu heading into the summer.

Brentford (England)
Ghanaian winger Abdul Fatawu has also been courted by Premier League club Brentford, who are looking to add him to their ranks ahead of next season, which could mark their first-ever season with European football.
The 22-year-old’s pace and direct style of play also perfectly fits Keith Andrews pattern and would see him effectively slot into the left side of the club’s attack if a deal is agreed to take him to the Gtech Community Stadium.
