The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations kicked off in Morocco on the 21st of December, bringing together 24 countries vying for a shot at the continent’s most prestigious football trophy.

This year’s tournament features some of Africa’s finest talents who are focused on leading their country to glory and whose consistent performances at both club and international levels have seen their market values increase over time.

From Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi to Cameroon’s Bryan Mbeum, these are the top five most valuable players at the ongoing AFCON 2025 in Morocco.

Achraf Hakimi (Morocco, €80 million)

Unsurprisingly, 2025 CAF Men’s player of the year winner Achraf Hakimi ranks as the most valuable African footballer in the world and also at the AFCON tournament with a market value of about €80 million.

The right-back made his first appearance of the tournament in Morocco’s 3-0 win over Zambia in their final group A match after recovering from an ankle injury, but enjoyed a remarkable year for French club Paris Saint Germain.

Hakimi was part of the historic treble-winning squad in the last campaign and also earned multiple individual accolades including being named in the IFFHS team of the year and in the FIFA FIFPRO World 11.

Bryan Mbeumo (Cameroon, €75 million)

Cameroon winger Bryan Mbeumo’s estimated market value of €75 million places him second on this list. The 26-year-old marked his first match at the tournament in Morocco with a player of the match performance and the assist for his side’s goal in their 1-0 win over Gabon in their opening match.

The forward joined Manchester United in the summer after an impressive spell at Brentford in the English Premier League and has eased to life at the Red Devils, becoming a core part of their squad so far.

Victor Osimhen (Nigeria, €75 million)

Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen ranks joint-second on this list with a market value of about €75 million. The 27-year-old has consistently proven his importance to both club and country and helped Galatasaray to a remarkable double triumph last season, before joining the Turkish club on a permanent deal in the summer.

Osimhen has scored once and provided one assist in two matches so far for the Super Eagles at the AFCON in Morocco and will be very crucial to their chances of winning a long-awaited fourth title.

Omar Marmoush (Egypt, €65 million)

Egypt forward Omar Marmoush has a market value of about €65 million and ranks as the fourth most valuable player at the 2025 African Cup of Nations tournament. He earned a high-profile move to the English Premier League in January after impressing in Germany and is one of the continent’s most lethal attackers.

The Manchester City forward marked his first match at the tournament with a goal in the Pharaoh’s 2-1 win over Zimbabwe in their opening group B clash and was very pivotal as they clinched qualification to the next round of the tournament.

Carlos Baleba (Cameroon, €60 million)

Cameroon midfielder Carlos Baleba completes this list with his market value estimated to be €60 million. The midfielder has developed into one of the best young prospects in world football currently and could earn a dream move away from Brighton and Hove Albion in January or next summer.

The 21-year-old has been very crucial for the Indomitable Lions since making his debut in 2024 and has played in both of their games so far at the AFCON tournament in Morocco.
