Super Eagles defender Benjamin Tanimu has ruled out an immediate return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) following his departure from Moroccan side Maghreb de Fès, insisting that he still has unfinished business abroad, Footy-Africa can exclusively report.
Speaking to Footy-Africa, the defender stated that it is “too early” to consider a move back to Nigeria, preferring instead to continue his career overseas.
The upcoming transfer window could provide him with that opportunity.
Sources close to the player indicate that several clubs have expressed interest in signing him, with teams from the United Arab Emirates among those monitoring his situation. Having experienced difficult spells in both Morocco and England, Tanimu is determined to make the right choice this time around.
The defender is believed to be carefully evaluating all offers on the table as he seeks a project that will provide stability, regular playing time and a pathway back into the Super Eagles squad.
The 23-year-old is currently a free agent after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract with the Moroccan club, bringing an end to a difficult spell in North Africa. Tanimu cited a lack of trust from the coaching staff and limited playing opportunities as key factors behind his decision to leave.

Tanimu made 10 appearances across all competitions for Crawley, but struggled to establish himself as a regular starter. Those setbacks have had consequences at international level, with the defender losing his place in Nigeria’s senior national team setup after earning three caps for the Super Eagles.
Despite speculation linking him with a return to the NPFL, Tanimu has dismissed the possibility for now.
