The CAF Champions League is the highest level of club competition in Africa, organized by the Confederation of African Football. Since its inception in 1964, several clubs have produced dominant performances in the competition, winning the prestigious title on multiple occasions.
The 2025/26 edition is already into its second qualifying phase, with the battle to overthrow defending champions Pyramids, who defeated Mamelodi Sundowns in the 2024/25 final, already underway.
This list highlights the five clubs with the most titles in history.
Al Ahly (12 titles)
Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly have asserted their dominance on the CAF Champions League, with a record 12 title wins. They won the highly-coveted trophy for a first time in their history in 1982, defeating Ghanaian side Asante Kotoko in the final.
Al Ahly have also reached the most finals in history (17), losing on only five occasions. They won their 12th title recently in the 2023/24 season, defeating Tunisian giants Esperance Tunis in the final.

Zamalek (5 titles)
Trailing their Egyptian rivals, Zamalek rank second on this list with five CAF Champions League titles to their name. The Royal Club have also reached the finals on eight occasions, losing three times, including in their last appearance in 2020.
The Egyptian side won a first title in 1984, before further wins in 1986, 1993 and 1996.
Their last win came in 2002, when they narrowly pipped Raja Casablanca to the title.

TP Mazembe (5 titles)
Congolese club TP Mazembe have the joint-second most African club trophies in history with five titles. They reached four consecutive finals between 1967 and 1969, winning the first two.
The Ravens have also reached seven finals in their entire history, losing on two occasions – to Egyptian side Ismaily in 1969 and to Asante Kotoko in 1970. Their last win came in 2015, when they defeated Algerian outfit USM Alger 4-1 on aggregate to win a fifth title.

Esperance Tunis (4 titles)
Tunisian club Esperance Tunis have the second-highest number of final appearances in CAF Champions League history, but have only lifted the trophy four times.
They won a first title in 1994 beating Egyptian side Zamalek, although their last triumph was in 2019, when they defeated Wydad Casablanca in the final.

Wydad AC (3 titles)
Moroccan outfit Wydad Athletic Club rounds off this list with three CAF Champions League titles to their trophy cabinet.
They have also reached the final six times, losing on three separate occasions, including in 2023 when they failed to defend their title, losing to Al Ahly.
The Red Castle won their first title in 1992, but did not win a second until 25 years later, pipping Al Ahly to victory in 2017. They defeated the Egyptians once again in 2022, to win their third title.
