Victor Boniface, talking to Footy-Africa in an exclusive Bundesliga media roundtable, expressed belief that Serhou Guirassy belongs among the elite players but feels the decision to leave or remain in the Bundesliga rests solely with Guirassy.

The Guinean forward, who has been in terrific form for both club and country, is one of the standout African players in Europe’s top leagues.

Salah, Osimhen and three other Africans to finish as top scorers in 2025/26

In the 2024/25 season, Guirassy scored 13 goals in the Champions League, making him the joint-top scorer for the campaign. He has managed to sustain that level this season, scoring five goals in 11 Bundesliga matches and three in five UEFA Champions League games.

“Guirassy is a very good player and one of the best in the league. We have Harry Kane and others, but he’s definitely among the top. I’ve played against him, so I know how good he is,” he exclusively told Footy-Africa.

Guirassy has reportedly been linked with several top clubs in Europe. Among the English Premier League sides interested are Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Manchester United. He has also been linked with Spanish giants Barcelona.

“Is Dortmund not a big team?” Boniface asked when quizzed about whether Guirassy should consider moving to the Premier League.

“He’s at a big club — Dortmund are a top side, and they were in the Champions League final a few seasons ago. But I can’t say whether he should move or stay; he knows what’s best for him. As for me, I love the Bundesliga — it’s a great league,” he concluded.
